Test for the Open Road

The Loop Track East consists of a three-lane continuous loop, incorporating entrance and exit ramps into multi-lane straightaways that feature several merging and weaving sections. It provides the functionality to test scenarios such as maintenance of traffic flow during active road construction, dynamic lane changing, and collision avoidance. With nearly a mile of multi-lane roadway, including 3,000 & 2,000 ft straightaways, the Loop Track provides an optimal, controlled environment for both “gap identification” and “acceptance and speed estimation” tests. It is located on the west side of the facility and can simultaneously support up to twenty vehicles and four users.
